MENSTRUAL CYCLE 

Menstrual cycle is Boon to Females to Detoxify their body in a natural way.
Term 'Detoxify ' means the lining or wall of uterus which is called as ' Endometrium ' is shed-off during menses .
UTERUS

so menstrual bleeding consists of toxins from the body , discharge of uterus and cervical canal and blood.

After each menstrual cycle a new layer of endometrium is formed along with it new blood vessels are also formed, muscles of endometrium increase day by day after menses till next period.

'Wear and tear' , ' Reconstruction of body ' takes places after menses in the body.
  • On an average first period (menarche) occurs between 12 to 15 years of age and last long till 45 to 55 years ( menopause )
Body goes through lot of changes  during entire month of menstrual cycle 

WHAT IS MENSTRUAL CYCLE ?
Menstrual Cycle is 28 days long on average  and can range from 25 days to 35 days depending upon the prakruti of a person.
Their are 3 main phases ,which are as follow-

1.  PHASE 1- DAY 1 TO DAY 5 ( VATA PHASE )-
 This phase begins with periods and acc to ayurveda main dosha which regulates  this phase  is vata dosha .
it acts as moving force, causing the proper  flow of bleeding.
Bleeding can be from 3 to 5 days depending upon your prakruti.

2. PHASE 2- DAY 5 TO DAY 14 ( KAPHA PHASE )-
This phase begins after menstrual bleeding stops. in this phase body is in process of reconstruction of endometrium, also to cope loss of blood during menses body is need of proper diet, yogasana and exercise and water balance.
In this phase , the female egg or ovum is released from ovary between 12th to 14th day of cycle.
it is termed as ovulation.
During this phase if physical contact takes place then pregnancy stage continues, otherwise after 15 days next menstrual cycle begins.

Few signs are commonly seen from outside during this 'ovulation phase '
1.Increased Mood Swings
2.Few Drops of Bleeding can occur
3. Increase in heat in body
4. White Discharge
5.Breast Heaviness

3.PHASE 3- PREPARATION FOR MENSES ( PITTA DOSHA )-
This phase starts from 15th day to 30 th day just after ovulation till next period occur.
In this phase,Endometrial layer is more thicker and gets ready to shedoff during menstrual bleeding.
pitta dosha in body is involved in this phase hence after 22nd day some women might feel warmness in body, pre-menses symptoms like
1. Vomiting, fever 
2. Backache, calf muscle pain, thighs heaviness ,lower abdomen heaviness or pain
3. Breast heaviness ,increased sweating
Between 28 to 30 days menses occurs and cycle continues.

WHAT ARE THE  CHARACTERISTICS OF  NORMAL MENSTRUAL BLEEDING  ?
1. It should come exactly between 28 to 30 days..sometimes Regular cycles come in 35 days which  is also considered normal.

2.The most important is it should not stain your clothes and should be easily washed off

3. It should not be associated with any discharge.

4.It should be Dark red coloured like red lotus flower.

All the above points indicates Menstrual Blood is normal and healthy and can be achieved by healthy diet, exercise , calmness of mind and body during all the 3 phases of menstrual cycle.

WHEN SHOULD I CONSULT A DOCTOR ? WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS THAT YOU NEED FOR PROPER TREATMENT?


1. If First period does not occur after 15 years of age.
2. Excess bleeding or pain after first period.
3. Any Other health issue associated with menstrual cycle.
4. Heavy bleed during menses or Scanty bleeding during menses.
5. Irregular bleeding anytime in month ( break through bleed)
6.Excess bleeding for more than 5 to 7 days.
7. Irregular periods.


Menstrual cycle lasts for whole month hence balanced diet, specific yogasana , meditation are very important to continue the healthy cycle!

Hello Dr .Rutuja your initiative of creating awareness regarding menstruation is worth appreciation. If you could just put light on seed cycling therapy for regular menstruation it would be grateful for many women who like to practices natural ways for health problems .Looking forward to read more blogs .
