AYURVEDA AND MENSTRUAL CYCLE - PART 2

MENSTRUAL ISSUES & AYURVEDA , BALANCED DIET , YOGASANA


In the last Blog we saw menstrual cycle is of 3 phases and series of events taking place in the body throughout the month.

'VATA', 'PITTA' , 'KAPHA' are the three doshas in the body which are responsible for all body functions according to Ayurveda .
Also in each phase of menstrual cycle each dosha is dominant. 'VATA DOSHA ' is main among the other doshas for proper functioning of menstrual cycle.
In modern era and technology era our lifestyle, food-pattern, work-pattern,sleep cycles has drastically changed . Each new changes  has  brought both sides , Positive side is women are able to achieve their desire goals and are efficient in all streams and work hand in hand accepting new challenges and opportunity..
on the other hand a bunch of health issues called as ';Lifestyle Disorders ' are faced by millennial starting from High-Bloodpressure , Diabetics, Thyroid , PCOD.

COMMONLY SEEN MENSTRUAL ISSUES ARE-

FIBROID
1. Irregular Menstrual Cycle
2. Fibroid, Polyp
3. Heavy Bleeding or Scanty Bleeding
4. Break through bleed
5. continuous bleeding for more than week to months
6.White Discharge
7. Vaginal infections
8. Excess hair growth over face
9. Black ring over neck ( hirsutism), change in voice
10. Weight gain, Breast heaviness

UTERINE POLYP

Ayurveda has described a certain Regimen named as 'RAJASWALA PARICHARYA" -  Things to be followed during menstrual cycle which are as follow-
HOT AND EASILY DIGESTIBLE SOUP
1. Take complete rest , avoid heavy physical activites.
2. Do not speak to too loud ,or laugh too loud.
3. Avoid Hair wash during periods as it results in reducing bleeding due to decrease in body temperature.
4. Have Hot, fresh and easy digestible food
5. Avoid sexual contact.
6. For working women it is not  possible everytime to stay home during period ,they should avoid walking , instead use vehicles, avoid outside food should carry homemade food with them..
eat fruits like pomegranate, apple or coconut water instead of junk food.
7. Should wear loose and cotton clothes and avoid heavy jewellery
8. one should avoid excess use of mobiles, instead take proper rest during this period.
9. One should chant om , or any other mantra, it helps to keep mind fresh and calm and also regulates bleeding.
10. Should drink jeera water , sabja water in between.

BALANCED DIET IN MENSES AND  WHICH IS HELPFUL IN TREATING ABOVE MENSTRUAL ISSUES-

1. Fruits- Pomegrante, Apple, Dates, Mosambi
2. one should have diet containing all the six rasas and all dietary nutrients.
3. vegetables such as Padwar, bittergourd, kohala ( petha ), raddish, beetroot, carrot ..in leafy vegetables have only lal math and chawli ( tandulja )
4. Daliya ( lapsi ) and sevaiya are very effective for providing strength to uterus and increases its muscle tone.
5. Avoid excess cheese, paneer.
6. Avoid colddrinks instead go for lime water , jeera water or coconut water.
7. Prefer whole fruit than fruit juice.
8. Avoid stale, excess oily, spicy and smoked food.
9. Eat Hot, freshly made and easily digestible food.
10. In non-veg food, prefer chicken and mutton over seafood.
11. Daily 2 spoon of cow ghee and one glass of cow milk .
12. To increase haemoglobin and Calcium level naturally consume Ragi, Atasi ( alasi ), Groundnut, Jaggery and Black raisins.

 YOGASANA 

Yogasana and Pranayam are both equally important in maintaining menstrual cycle and to regulate bleeding.
It should be practised daily for minimum 10 minutes to maximum 45 minutes.
It should be done empty stomach ( maximum 3 hours empty ).

 Pranayam which are helpful -
1. Anuloma - Viloma
2. Bhasrika
3. Bhramari
4. Sheetali - Shitakari 
5. Om chanting


Yogasana which are helpful -
1. Dhanurasana
2. Padmasana
3. Setubandhasana
4.Viparita Karani
5.Bhujangasana
6.Natarajasana 
7. Padmasana
8.Halasana


MENSTRUAL HYGIENE-
1. Sanitary Pad should be changed every 2 hourly.
2.Area should be clean and dry.
3. Prefer sanitary pad or cotton cloth than tampons or menstrual cups
4. Proper Handwash with Soap everytime.
