What is Migraine?
Migraine is a neurological disorder marked by recurrent headaches, often one-sided, throbbing in nature, and sometimes accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light (photophobia), and sound (phonophobia).


๐Ÿ”Ž Ayurveda’s View on Migraine

In Ayurveda, migraine can be correlated to Ardhavabhedaka (described in classical texts).

  • It is mainly caused due to vitiation of Vata and Pitta dosha.

  • Imbalanced lifestyle, irregular diet, excessive stress, lack of sleep, and indigestion (Agnimandya) are common root causes.


๐ŸŒฑ Ayurvedic Approach to Migraine

  1. Shodhana (Detoxification):

    • Panchakarma therapies like Virechana (purgation), Nasya (nasal therapy), Shirodhara, Shirobasti help in balancing doshas and calming the nervous system.

  2. Shamana (Pacifying treatments):

    • Use of Medicines Helps In -

      • calm the mind and reduce stress.

      • For Pitta balance and headache relief.

  3. Ahara (Diet):

    • Eat light, freshly cooked, satvik meals.

    • Include ghee, milk, seasonal fruits.

  4. Vihara (Lifestyle):

    • Maintain proper sleep routine.

    • Practice yoga, pranayama, meditation for stress management.
