EYE PROBLEMS AND AYURVEDA


Eyes are one of the most important organ of  human body , one among Panchendriya and having agni and Pitta Sthan according to Ayurveda.

Many literatures ,poems are composed describing the beauty of eyes .. various surma, anjan, kajal are applied over eyes which enhances beauty of eyes.

Work strain of eyes is more comparative than other parts of eyes and in current lockdown situation eye strain has increased to maximum level.

Work from home has lead to increase in screen time which resulted into various eye issues which are as follow-

1)     Watering eyes

2)     Eye fatique

3)     Sticky discharge from eyes

4)     Increased eye number

5)     Blackness in front of eyes

6)     Burning sensation in eyes

7)     Increased eye number in younger age

8)      Darkcircles around eyes

9)      Puffyness around eyes

10) Twitching in eyelids

Taking care of eyes is extremely important , eye fatique , headache , migraine issues has been increased gradually since last few years .

Above eyes issue are commonly seen in all age groups whose main reason is increased in screen time in maximum cases and also some internal body reason which needs to be treated properly.

Excess usage of screens, tv , mobiles continuously for more than 1 hour increases strain not only on eyes but also on brain as well , rays , vibrations coming from screen affects a lot more.

Eye care should be taken by following below points –

1.     
    -Do not rub your eyes

2.     - Keep cotton pad soaked in either milk or gulabjal on eyes for 10 minutes

3.     -Take a break after every one hour while doing work in front of screen

4.     -Due to excess use of AC can cause dryness in eyes hence excess usage should be     avoided

5.     -If there is pain in eyes due to eye fatigue then both palms should be rubbed           over each other and place both the palms over eyes . 

        perform this activity for 2-3 times .

 Diet –

1.     Diet should include vegetables, specially lal math , anjeer, black manuka (raisins), dates,carrot, beet,pomegranate ,papaya,rajgira ladoo, rice puffs should be consumed on regular basis.

2.     Food should be cooked in iron vessel to gain maximum benefits .

3.     Daily diet should consist of cows ghee n milk.


·       Wash your eyes every 2 hourly while working

·       While sleeping at night apply few drops of coconut oil or ghee over palms and soles and also around eyes by doing slight massage to reduce eye strain and fatigue.

·       Eye exercise should be done regularly which includes Tratak, eye movement in circular direction opening n closing eyes.

  • Panchakarma-

Various panchkarma treatment are effective like NETRA TARPAN, NETRABASTI,NASYA are effective to treat eye issues.

Likewise with proper care, healthy diet and exercise one can have healthy eyes.
